Amazon Prime Video has dropped the trailer of its upcoming drama ‘The Illegal‘, a film that captures emotions at its best. Written and directed by Danish Renzu, ‘The Illegal’ will premiere exclusively on Amazon Prime Video on 23rd March, 2021.
The trailer begins with Hassan (Suraj Sharma) being questioned as to why he wants to be a filmmaker. In his response he says that for him it’s the only medium through which he feels he can express himself. He further explains how he likes to take his feelings and emotions and put them on screen.
Hassan is then seen migrating to America where his uncle questions him about his choice of course despite getting admission into a great school. While his uncle allows him to stay at his place until he makes some arrangement, Hassan moves out. He starts his studies at college while working at a restaurant for financial support.
At the restaurant he meets a girl with whom he starts going out and soon develops a connection. In the next scene Hassan is seen getting into a fight at the restaurant and later gets fired for allegedly stealing money.
Things start getting worse for him and he starts struggling to hold himself together amongst all the turmoil going on in his life. With no support in a foreign land, Hassan finds himself all alone wondering what life has in store for him.
As per Amazon Prime Video, ‘The Illegal’ is the story of a student from India who leaves home to pursue the American dream. The unforeseen struggle of working as an undocumented worker to survive while inside a system set up for his failure, challenges him to find inner strength, overcome obstacles and never give up.
Produced by Danish Renzu for Renzu Films and Tara Tucker for Tucker Hess Productions, ‘The Illegal‘ stars Suraj Sharma (‘Life Of Pie’, ‘Million Dollar Arm’, ‘Homeland’), Shweta Tripathi, Adil Hussain, Iqbal Theba, Jay Ali, Hannah Masi and Neelima Azeem among others. Sunayana Kachroo serves as the associate producer for the film.
‘The lllegal’ will start streaming only on Amazon Prime Video from 23rd March, 2021.
