Suarabh has acted in many prolific short films such as the Rony Sen directed “Cat Sticks” which was also screened in KIFF (which is available on Mubi) and CRD (which can be streamed online on Netflix). He has also collaborated with Preet (who has been in Pune for a decade now) previously in the latter’s first 30-minute short film “Gray” which was featured at Cannes and atleast 40 other International film festivals. He has also recently worked in Zee5’s original series, Mafia.
The indie movie (which was shot in Pune) is a sweet story about a couple who want to buy a house which will eventually be their home. The film is very relatable because it is a story about a normal husband and wife. It shows the couple, who have lived their entire lives in a rented house, are ready to buy a house and invest quite a bit in it’s planning. They are stopped by an obstacle – the loan which was promised to them (for the house) will be postponed by 2 years.
Saurabh plays the protagonist, Sudhir Mathur in the film. The actor mentions that his character comes from a middle-class background and hence has deeply rooted middle-class family values. He has a scooter, calculates his weekly budget and regularly keeps a clean shave, the actor adds.
Preet is venturing into Dhollywood where he will hopefully do his first Gujarati commercial film (which is his mother-tongue). The OTT platform in which “Nameplate” will release hasn’t been announced yet. We eagerly await news regarding the same.
