Netflix’s latest crime documentary series, American Nightmare, has taken the number one spot on the streaming service’s Global Top 10 rankings. It dethroned Quay Street’s Fool Me Once series from the top spot.
American Nightmare covers the highly publicised kidnapping of Denise Huskins, which took place in March 2015. Huskins was kidnapped from her boyfriend’s (Aaron Quinn) house in California. The local police department and the FBI believed that Huskins’ kidnapping was a fake scenario of kidnapping staged by the couple. During that time, the American media started hailing Huskins as “The Real Gone Girl.” However, things took a wild turn after a similar kidnapping case was reported in Dublin, California.
In its first week of streaming release, Netflix’s latest crime documentary has earned over 21.4 million views with more than 48.1 million hours of viewing. These figures are way better than Fool Me Once, the Michelle Keegan starrer that has received only 11.2 million views within three weeks of its streaming release.
Yellowstone Season 1 has also found a new life on Netflix. The Kevin Costner starrer has been viewed by more than 3.7 million households (over 27.6 million hours of viewing).
American Nightmare consists of three episodes, all helmed by Bernadette Higgins and Felicity Morris. It arrived on Netflix on January 17, 2024. Stream it now!
