India was bouncing back. 2021 started off on a good note as things started to open up, public places saw more people and theatres and cinema halls started to open up. Filmmakers and actors started announcing their long awaited movies once again and some even started to release. The industry that saw tremendous loss last year, started the year off with a bang with movies from South India, those movies literally helped the industry come back to certain position after the pandemic.
Just when Bollywood movies were making a comeback, Covid-19 strikes again and with it came a row of movies being postponed. These gave a glimpse, that maybe the industry will slip back again to the same position like last year’s. Just when the fear started to come true, two movies- Karnan and Vakeel Saab released and well, now it looks like even Covid won’t be able to bring it down.
Dhanush starrer Karnan released on 9th of April in theatres and is winning hearts already. People are waiting impatiently and lining up just so that could grab a seat in the theatres and watch the movie. So is the case with Vakeel Saab, the Telugu film starring Pawan Kalyan, also released on the 9th of April and the movie already is being hailed amongst the ones with the biggest opening day sales in Telugu speaking states.
As per reports, Karnan has managed to collect Rs 10.50 crore on its opening day. The movie has also been released in Australia and New Zealand. In Australia, Karnan has earned Rs. 21.54 lakh, while in New Zealand; it has managed to collect Rs. 2.62 lakh.
While this is the case for Karnan, Vakeel Saab too has successfully collected approximately Rs. 48 crores on the opening day. The Day 1 figures are said to be a career best for Pawan Kalyan at the moment. Along with Karnan, Vakeel Saab too saw a release both in Australia and New Zealand. In Australia, the movie reportedly has collected Rs. 84.07 lakh and in New Zealand, it has collected 5.61 lakh.
The sales of both these movies are amazing considering what the nation has been going through right now. Amidst the almost second wave of Covid-19, both the movies seemed to have kept the industry afloat in a difficult time. If the Covid situations didn’t start again, the movies would definitely have way bigger openings. But right now, this is more than what we can ask for. The movies have given a rightful boost to the industry, which was very much needed to keep it going and especially when things are looking like it will come down all over again.
