All About ‘Avrodh’, The Upcoming Amit Sadh Show On The Surgical Strikes On Revamped SonyLIV

By Rashmi Paharia - May 29, 2020 @ 04:05 pm

Avrodh-Sonyliv-binged2019 Bollywood flick, Uri: The Surgical Strike, starring Vicky Kaushal, was based on the 2016 surgical strikes carried out by the Indian armed forces in Pakistan. The movie was a huge hit and even won four National Awards, mostly coz it was high on patriotic jingoism. Amit Sadh Avrodrh SonyLIV Web Series On The Surgical Strikes

Now, SonyLIV is bringing out a web series on the historical incident, which is headlined by talented actor, Amit Sadh. Sadh first tasted web success with Amazon Prime’s Breathe. The show is called ‘Avrodh’, and it is likely to drop on SonyLIV soon. SonyLIV unveiled its new, revamped look this week, along with a new logo and a stunning slate of upcoming new content.

Avrodh is one among the grand lineup of releases SonyLIV has planned for the near future. There are a host of other popular shows that’ll debut on the new improved SonyLIV soon.

Content producer Applause Entertainment, of the Aditya Birla Group of Companies, has created Avrodh for SonyLIV. While Uri was a fictional account of the surgical strikes, Avrodh promises to depict the actual version and sequence of events that played out that night. Of course, Avrodh has ten episodes to relate a detailed account of the incident, as opposed to the 120-130 minute run time that a movie has.

Amit Sadh plays the reel version of real-life Indian Army officer, Major Tango, who spearheaded the surgical strikes back in 2016.

In a statement to the media, Amit Sadh said, “My character offers scope to display a fresh side of me as an actor – Major Tango is someone that has many shades to him – bravery, a host of emotions, and everything in between.”

Shooting for Avrodh is complete, and the show is likely to debut on SonyLIV soon. The series has been directed by Raj Acharya, the director of the Discovery Jeet show, The Battle Of Saragarhi. Besides Amit Sadh, the show features Darshan Kumaar, Vikram Gokhale, Neeraj Kabi, Anant Mahadevan, and Madhurima Tuli in pivotal roles.
