Legendary Indian actor Amitabh Bachchan is a household name not just in India but in various parts of the globe. He is one of the few actors whose earlier films too have endured the test of time, and he continues to deliver incredible performances even at the age of 81.
In an exciting initiative co-presented by Film Heritage Foundation, several classic films featuring the veteran actor are all set to be showcased at one of the oldest and the most reputed film festivals – Festival des 3 Continents, whose 2023 edition is to be held in Nantes, France from 24th November to 3rd December. This retrospective has been aptly titled ‘Amitabh Bachchan, Big B Forever’.
And the films which would be showcased at Festival des 3 Continents are Manmohan Desai’s family action drama ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’ (1977), Chandra Barot’s action entertainer ‘Don’ (1978), Yash Chopra’s survival drama ‘Kaala Patthar’ (1979), Yash Chopra romantic drama ‘Kabhi Kabhie’ (1976), Yash Chopra’s revenge drama ‘Deewaar’ (1975), Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s marital drama ‘Abhimaan’ (1973), Raj Sippy’s action comedy ‘Satte Pe Patta’ (1982), Ramesh Sippy’s revenge actioner ‘Sholay’ (1975), and Yash Chopra’s family drama ‘Trishul’ (1978).
Besides these nine films, a documentary film called ‘The Real Superstar’ based on the life and career of Amitabh Bachchan will also be showcased at the fest. It has been directed by French filmmaker Cedric Dupire.
After recently starring in films like ‘Ganapath’, ‘Uunchai’, and ‘Goodbye’, Amitabh Bachchan’s forthcoming projects include the highly anticipated sci-fi action flick ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ co-starring Prabhas, Kamal Haasan, and Deepika Padukone, and ‘Thalaivar 170’ featuring Rajanikanth, amongst others.
