Thangalaan, starring Chiyan Vikram and directed by Pa Ranjith, released today worldwide. The movie gathered quite a good attention of the people and has shown an exceptional result in the box office. As per statistics, the opening day collection for the movie is around 20-22 crores worldwide, making it the second most successful Tamil movie on first day after Indian 2, and is standing beside Raayan for the title. The movie is set in the 1850s, based on true events that were faced by the mine workers of Kolar Gold Field. Vikram plays the title role of Thangalaan who is the leader of a tribe which is commissioned by the British to hunt for gold. The conflict arises when the tribe faces the wrath of a woman with supernatural abilities, Arithi (Malavika). Their challenge is to work in the field by facing and defeating Arithi and her troops. Thangalaan undertakes this job. Vikram’s dedication to the character can be seen in his portrayal where one is not able to recognise him at first glance. The cinematography, graphics and stellar performances increase the movie’s power to captivate the audience.
The movie, as is made in a budget of about 100 crores, and has earned about 20% of its budget in just one day; so it is safe to assume that it will soon cross its investment and earn quite a good amount of profit. The movie can even go on to become one of the biggest movies of the year easily.
