The latest international web-series Amsterdam Ave, that’s to release in September, follows two young women, one Indian-American and one Dutch, who switch places after meeting online – each leaving home to pursue their dreams abroad. The series is about taking risks, making sacrifices, and the awkward and exciting experience of acclimating to a new culture.
Amsterdam Ave is written and produced by Dionne van den Berg and Pooja Tripathi, who also star in the series. The international female-filmmaking duo has collaborated under Fountain Avenue Productions and strives to create work with almost entirely female-identifying crew.
The series was directed by Amanda Hanna-Mcleer, who previously worked for post-production on Comedy Central’s Broad City and Inside Amy Schumer, and FX’s The Americans. Coco & Breezy will compose music for the series and the African-American/Puerto Rican twins will also make a surprise appearance. Actress Catherine Curtin of Orange Is the New Black, Stranger Things, and Insecure is part of the film’s cast as well. The details surrounding the OTT platform on which they’ll premiere the series are still awaited.
