Amazon Prime Video’s rural comedy drama show ‘Panchayat’ made its debut on the OTT platform in April 2020 and the second season was released last month on 18th May. Both the seasons of the series were unanimously acclaimed by the audiences and critics alike. The show has been included amongst IMDb’s highest rated international TV shows of all time and currently holds a user rating of 8.9/10.
Now that ‘Panchayat’ Season-2 is over, fans are already getting curious for a third season. The show’s director Deepak Kumar Mishra had recently thrown some light on the planning of a third season. While it has already been confirmed that a third season of ‘Panchayat’ is certainly on the cards, however, it’s going to take its own sweet time.
Considering the time gap between ‘Panchayat’ Season-1 and Season-2, the third season should make its way on Amazon Prime Video sometime in June 2024. However, owing to the audiences’ curiosity factor and the show’s phenomenal success, our guess is that the makers might want to fast-track the release of ‘Panchayat’ Season-3, which might release in the second half of 2023 itself or early 2024.
Another exciting info on the future of the Filmfare OTT Award-winning series ‘Panchayat’ is that the show is reportedly being planned for a five-season run. Yes, you heard that right. Although official confirmation for five seasons of ‘Panchayat’ from the makers or Amazon Prime Video is yet to be revealed.
‘Panchayat S2’ ended on a completely different note compared to the show’s light-hearted opening season and in most episodes of the second season. Jitendra Kumar character’s Abhishek Tripathi’s future in Phulera village seems uncertain now and it would be really interesting to see what new adventures the makers have planned for the protagonist and other characters of ‘Panchayat’.
‘Panchayat’ follows an engineering graduate Abhishek Tripathi (played by IIT Kharagpur alumni turned actor Jitendra Kumar), who reluctantly accepts the post of Secretary of a panchayat office in a remote village of Uttar Pradesh. Each episode of the show is a slice-of-life comedy-drama that gives you the feel of a typical easy-going village-day. It also features veteran actors Raghubir Yadav (in the role of Pradhan-Pati) and Neena Gupta (in the role of village Pradhan), Faisal Malik as Prahlad (Up-Pradhan), Sanvikaa as Rinky (Pradhan’s daughter) and Chandan Roy as the good-hearted office assistant Vikas, amongst others. Stay tuned to Binged on the latest updates on Amazon Prime Video’s ‘Panchayat’ series.
