Netflix has dropped the official teaser of its upcoming film ‘Blonde’ based on Joyce Carol Oates’ 2000 fictional novel of the same name. Helmed by Andrew Dominick, ‘Blonde’ will premiere exclusively on Netflix on 23rd September, 2022.
The teaser begins with an afraid Marilyn Monroe (Ana de Armas) getting ready in her makeup chair and desperately calling out the subdued sex symbol inside her, that the crowd expects, to come forth. The minute long video also shows how she struggles her way through the media trying to catch her glimpse. By the end of the teaser we see a totally different, full of confidence actress with a dazzling smile who is all ready to rock.
The other notable things in the teaser include the ‘Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend’ song playing in the background which Monroe sings in the 1953 hit ‘Gentlemen Prefer Blondes’, and then there’s also a shot of the famous ‘Seven Year Itch’ white dress.
‘Blonde’ is the story of an ordinary Norma Jeane Baker transforming into golden superstar Marilyn Monroe. The film goes through the layers and shows the vulnerable woman underneath the Hollywood icon that Monroe was. ‘Blonde’ also chronicles Norma Jeane’s traumatic childhood and the conflict that results as an adult between her very public and private selves.
Other than Ana de Armas, ‘Blonde’ also stars Adrien Brody, Bobby Cannavale and Julianne Nicholson among others. The film is produced by Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Tracey Landon, Brad Pitt and Scott Robertson. Plan B Entertainment has produced ‘Blonde’ for Netflix.
‘Blonde’ will stream exclusively on Netflix from 23rd September, 2022.
