‘Angry Young Men’ Trailer: Celebrates The Legacy That Was Salim-Javed

Have you seen Salman Khan getting nervous for an interview? Well he is for this one as he talks about his father from the legendary writer duo Salim-Javed in Prime Video’s new docuseries ‘Angry Young Men’.

The trailer shows well known names from the industry speaking on the legend that are Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar who worked together on 24 films out of which 22 were blockbusters. There wasn’t such a pair before them and neither after they decide to part ways.

Everyone who talks about them, whether it’s Salman Khan, Farhan Akhtar, Zoya Akhtar, Shatrughan Sinha, Karan Johar, Shabana Azmi, Aamir Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Yash or Anupama Chopra and more, they are all amazed by the incredible work they did. And towards the end of the trailer Amitabh Bachchan’s entry makes this documentary even more iconic, after all it was for him that Salim-Javed created the “angry young men” persona that set them apart and created history.

They also speak about how Salim and Javed were a bit arrogant after having achieved such great success. But when they decided to separate the industry was in shock. The trailer looks really promising and will give a deep insight into how the Hindi film industry works in ways yet not known fully to common public.

‘Angry Young Men’ is the story of Salim-Javed, the legendary screenwriting duo behind some of the biggest Bollywood blockbusters in 1970s like Sholay, Zanjeer, Deewaar, Yaadon Ki Baaraat, and Donamong others. Together, they created the archetype of the ‘Angry Young Man’— a brooding anti-hero who captured the imagination of an entire nation with his rage, defiance, and quest for social justice. Their parting of ways made headlines for many years, and Indian cinema never saw a cultural collaboration as powerful again. This docuseries is a personal and candid account of their lives, their writing, and their legacy.

A riveting three part series, ‘Angry Young Men’ marks the directorial debut of Namrata Rao and is produced by Salman Khan Films, Excel Media & Entertainment and Tiger Baby. Farhan Akhtar, Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti serve as executive producers. ‘Angry Young Men’ Will start streaming on Amazon Prime Video from 20th August, 2024.
