Anirban Bhattacharya was the most talked about actor in the Bengali film industry even two years ago. And he is coming with some interesting upcoming projects too. But his chances do not look very good now as he has turned the public against himself.
We have witnessed it many times that an actor or director is trolled or criticised for his ideas or comments and later people have forgiven them and enjoyed their content whenever released. But it looks like it will not be the same for Anirban Bhattacharya. He is consistently making himself aloof from the public eye and his silence in important matters are costing him too dearly.
Dev too was trolled for his comments on the R. G. Kar incident, but it was kind of expected from him because of his political associations. Anirban Bhattacharya’s silence made the people angry because he became popular for his ‘righteous’ stance against oppression and patriarchy. There is no buzz regarding his performance in such a hyped show like ‘Talmar Romeo Juliet’. People seem to have consciously decided to ignore him. His recently announced ‘Bhog’ too is not exciting many fans.
It might be a good decision for the actor to start doing projects for other industries as well, or at least revive a little bit of his political stance for the sake of his career.
