Annette Bening Joins Maggie Gyllenhaal’s Bride of Frankenstein Film

Annette Bening has joined the cast of Maggie Gyllenhaal’s untitled Bride of Frankenstein movie, according to Deadline. Earlier this week, it was announced that the project’s production will commence soon. The film has been tentatively titled The Bride.

Bening has joined the cast, which already consists of performers like Penelope Cruz (The Bride), Christian Bale (Frankenstein), Peter Sarsgaard (A Detective), and Jessie Buckley (in an unknown role).

The forthcoming untitled Bride of Frankenstein film will take place in 1930s Chicago, focusing on Dr Euphronius’ attempts to create a companion for himself. The pair gives a new life to a dead woman, leading to the creation of The Bride. Her re-emergence causes all sorts of trouble, catches cops’ attention and sparks a chaotic social movement.

Annette Bening is best known for her performances in The Grifters (1990), American Beauty (1999), Being Julia (2004), The Kids Are All Right (2010), 20th Century Women (2016), Captain Marvel (2019), Death on the Nile (2022), and more. She also received a nomination for Best Actress (Drama) at this year’s Golden Globes for her performance in Nyad, which also starred Jodie Foster.

The upcoming Maggie Gyllenhaal’s Bride of Frankenstein movie will primarily focus on Frankenstein’s quest for love. Apart from her helming duties, Gyllenhaal will also co-produce the film with Talia Kleinhendler, Osnant Handelsman-Keren, and Emma Tillinger Koskoff. Stay tuned for more updates.
