Malayalam cinema never ceases to amaze but their limited theatrical release leaves the rest of the country to wait eagerly for their OTT release. One such highly successful film is sports drama ‘Alappuzha Gymkhana’ helmed by Khalid Rahman (‘Thallumaala’) and after wooing the theatrical audience it is now finally headed to OTT.
‘Alappuzha Gymkhana’ follows five friends who fail their 12th exams but then one of them comes up with the idea of joining a boxing school in order to get a college admission through sports quota. After competing at the district level championship, these friends begin preparing for the state level competition but will they succeed?
Directed by Khalid Rahman who has co-written the film with Sreeni Saseendran, ‘Alappuzha Gymkhana’ stars Naslen, Lukman Avaran, Ganapathi S. Poduval, Sandeep Pradeep, Anagha Ravi, Franck Francis, Baby Jean and Shiva Hariharan.
‘Alappuzha Gymkhana’ wasn’t just a commercial success but also earned immense praise from critics who said that it is not your usual sports drama and despite taking a different route it doesn’t disappoint and rather makes you think you wouldn’t want it to be anything else.
According to reports, ‘Alappuzha Gymkhana’ is getting its digital premiere on SonyLIV on June 5th, 2025. It will be joining other Malayalam hits like ‘Marco’, ‘Pravinkoodu Shappu’, ‘Bromance’, ‘Rekhacithram’, ‘Maranamass’, ‘Pani’, ‘Bougainvillea’ and more that are already streaming on SonyLIV.
