Anthony Mackie’s comments at the recently concluded San Diego Comic-Con event indicate that a major Avenger may appear in his upcoming movie, Captain America: Brave New World, or simply Captain America 4. The movie’s main cast members joined Kevin Feige at the Hall H, including talents like Harrison Ford, Giancarlo Desposito, Tim Blake Nelson, and Danny Ramirez, apart from Mackie.
Following Marvel’s large-scale and ambitious Hall H presentation, Mackie joined the movie’s cast members in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. When asked about a possible connection between Captain America 4 and The Incredible Hulk, we believe that Mackie revealed a bit too much. His recent comments could confirm that Bruce Banner’s Hulk may appear in ‘Brave New World’.
“The events of Hulk and his film don’t pertain to this movie at all, when, when, and if he shows up… when he shows up, his world, his universe, his story is completely separate from the way we utilize him in our story,” said Mackie.

Bruce Banner’s appearance in Brave New World makes sense, considering the presence of Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, aka Red Hulk (Ford), and Betty Ross (played by Liv Tyler). Both characters were integral in shaping Banner’s story in The Incredible Hulk (2008). Many rumors have also teased Hulk’s possible appearance in Captain America 4, as Sam Wilson alone doesn’t seem strong enough to stop Red Hulk and Sidewinder (Esposito). Some have even speculated that Wilson will create a new Avengers team in the upcoming Captain America movie, with Hulk joining the faction as well.
Mark Ruffalo’s appearance in Captain America: Brave New World has not yet been confirmed by Marvel Studios. However, his version of Bruce Banner could play an important role in shaping the movie’s storyline. Many fans have waited years to witness a one-on-one fight between Hulk and Red Hulk on the big screen.
Captain America: Brave New World is set to arrive in theatres globally on February 14, 2025. Stay tuned for more updates.
