When ZEE5 unveiled its calendar for the month, like it does at the start of every month, there was a surprise in store for viewers. Slotted in for 10th April was a dark horse movie, Bamfaad. And like everyone else, we too wondered about ZEE5 premiering this Anurag Kashyap presentation on its platform.
Well, surprise or not, the fact remains that Bamfaad will premiere on ZEE5 on 10th April, and in the form of a ZEE5 Original movie. The movie will star young newcomer Aditya Rawal as lead. The handsome lad is of pedigreed stock – he’s thespian Paresh Rawal and skilled actress Swaroop Sampat’s offspring after all.
It was back in 2019 that we had learnt about Anurag Kashyap introducing the Rawals’ son in Bollywood. Aditya has worked as a screenwriter for Broadway productions in the past, and will now be seen in the ZEE5 original film, Bamfaad.
Besides Aditya, Bamfaad will feature Shalini Pandey, the actress made popular by the superhit Telugu film, Arjun Reddy. Bamfaad will mark her debut in Hindi films or on OTT, depends on how you look at it. Vijay Varma and Jatin Sharma complete the primary cast of the movie.
Bamfaad is directed by debutant filmmaker Ranjan Chandel. And if facts are to be believed, it could be counted as one of the biggest ZEE5 Originals and web movies of the year.
According to official sources, the film is based in Allahabad. It portrays a romantic story, set in a volatile backdrop. It will show us an unconventional and passionate love story, quite different from the usual Bollywood or digital fare.
Rawal, who is playing the male lead of Nasir Jamal, seems enthralled to enter the film industry with such a thrilling story. He has had quite a bit of theatrical experience before, but this one will be very different in a good way.
Anurag Kashyap took to his Instagram account to announce the imminent release of Bamfaad and share the film’s poster.
