Sakshi Tanwar is back and this time she goes all dark and violent. Anushka Sharma’s “Mai” is one of the latest Netflix India originals that were announced recently during this year’s reveal of the upcoming shows and movie. As Mai is revealed, we get a sneak peek of what and how Sakshi Tanwar’s character will be portrayed to the world. She is not new to the world of web-series. She has already done a few with ALTBalaji that have received some really good feedback, but this is different.
As Anushka reveals in her Instagram post about the show, she mentions the main character “Sheel”, played by Tanwar. Sheel is a 47 year old mother and wife who will do anything and everything for her family. A sudden accident makes her a part of the dark and violent underworld. As she enters that world, she knows it is out of her control, this is beyond her, this is something more than her now.
As described by Anushka herself, the series will definitely be including elements of both crime and politics with Sakshi Tanwar’s character in between all of these. As underworld is set as the back drop of this series, it is meant to be gory and gritty. While she juggles these, she will make sure nothing happens to her family and she is the one taking the bullet for them. This dark plot will be interesting to see given the leading lady of the series.
Sakshi Tanwar has been the nation’s favourite for a long long time now, she has done roles that have stayed with people and all have been very appreciative of the career she has had over all these years. Given how versatile an actor she is, it would be interesting to see how she manages to garner everyone’s attention to this.
The show will also be starring Vivek Mushran, Prashant Naranarayan, Wamiqa Gabbi and Seema Pahwa in pivotal roles. The creator for the show is Atul Mongia, while the screenplay is done by Tamel Sen and Amita Vyas. Also, it is produced by Anushka Sharma’s production house, Clean Slate Filmz and this will be the company’s 3rd digital venture after Pataal Lok and Bulbbul, both of which has recieved critical acclaim. The series has no release date as of now
