To celebrate the well known actor Jayasurya’s birthday, the teaser trailer for the new fantasy horror flick, Kathanar, was unveiled, augmenting the excitement surrounding this project helmed by Rojin Thomas, who is well renowned for his National Award-winning directorial venture, “Home”. Another exciting addition to the team is the bold and lovely Anushka Shetty, which has been creating a lot of buzz recently as this is her debut in Mollywood.
In the movie, Jayasurya plays the titular character of Kadamattathu Kathanar, a fabled priest that possesses extraordinary supernatural powers and the teaser reveals him as a prisoner, held hostage by the church who are worried about his capabilities. The filming commenced back in April 2023, and is completed and its release date is in the works, soon to be released this year. The film incorporates something known as virtual production technology, making this a cornerstone development in Indian cinema as a whole, according to the crew.
While Anushka’s exact role has not been disclosed, fans are speculating whether she will be taking on the character of Kalliyankattu Neeli, the legendary ghost with lots of stories to her name. As the project moves onto its final stages, Mollywood fans are eagerly anticipating the revelation of the age-old tales of Kadamattathu Kathanar aided by the creative visions of Rojin Thomas.
