‘Anweshanam’, ‘Meri Awas Suno’, ‘John Luther’: Jayasurya Needs a Revaluation!

By Binged Bureau - Jun 26, 2022 @ 09:06 am

Jayasurya starrer ‘Meri Awas Suno‘ released on Disney+Hotstar this friday following a theatrical release on May 13th. The film stars Jayasurya, Manju Warrier and Sshivada in major roles. While it is yet to be seen how the film will be received on Disney+Hotstar, the box-office performance of the film has been abysmal. The actor’s last theatrical release before Meri Awas Suno and John Luther was Anweshanam, which again disappointed at the box-office.

While the under-performance of the film is saddening, what is more saddening is how star in Jayasurya has been having a bad time since 2017 despite churning good performances consistently. Jayasurya had another release in ‘John Luther‘ in the same month of May which received disastrous box office response despite decent critical reception. The last box office success of the star was Aadu 2 in 2017, sequel to the 2015 film ‘Aadu oru Bheegara Jeevi Aanu’. The actor had around 11 releases after Aadu 2, of which 9 of them were theatrical releases. And unfortunately all of them were box-office duds.

The actor deserves to have a big-wig come back for the sheer talent he possesses. Despite having a tough time commercially at the box-office, the actor in Jayasurya shined and how in films like Captain, Njan Marykutty, Vellam, Sunny and Meri Awas Suno. His upcoming line-up also doesn’t look promising enough besides Aadu 3, E Sreedharan biopic and Kathanar Part 1& 2 where Jayasurya plays an exorcist priest. It’s high time the actor focusses on quality over quantity. Even though most of his films have meaty characters that gives him scope to perform, the scripts fall all over the place as a unit. After all an actor is aw good as his last film. Fingers crossed for the actor to make a smashing comeback in the coming years.
