Sony is emerging as the new romantic doctor, with future projects akin to “It Ends With Us.” But what about the present?
Currently, Sony is reveling in the success of “Anyone But You.”
The title isn’t the most critically acclaimed, with a modest 6.6 on IMDb and a 51% Tomatometer rating; “mediocre” would be the most fitting tag. However, audiences have different tastes, showing ample love for the title. It reached the pinnacle of the weekday box office for three consecutive days.
Starring Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney, the film grossed $1M each day, standing alone in its class. Despite being a late bloomer, the movie is now testing the waters of the Indian market.
While there’s no official news from the makers, the BookMyShow website suggests the film is seeking a release in India on January 19th, with ticket sales starting soon.
Again, take this date with a pinch of salt as there is no official update from the makers, but this could also be a fault in their advertising strategy.
An earlier update mentioned its streaming date, but as predicted, it’s unlikely Sony plans to end the theatrical run, especially now with such good numbers, and most of the world has already seen the holiday films.
The theatrical run of “Anyone But You” in India might not match the makers’ expectations, as the nation’s taste doesn’t necessarily align with a romance like “Anyone But You.” However, the unpredictability is what makes us fall in love with the craft.
