Because the series is a period drama which delves deep into the subject matter of courtesans in 1940s Lahore, there should have been some touch of reality. The whole series was so aesthetically pleasing that set designers didn’t pay enough attention while using an urdu news paper, which had a headline related to Covid 19.
Apart from that, the lavish attire of all the tawaifs but, murmurs raised when Sonakshi Sinha’s fingertips were shown, perfectly gel polished nails.
Apart from that the riot scenes felt so absurdly calculated that it was impossible to imagine that truly things happened like that.
Critics are saying that fans of Sanjay Leela Bhansali forgot about history while watching Heeramandi. Now, Heeramandi talks about tawaifs from Lahore which is located in Pakistan, in an recent interview Bhansali said that it’s a series which brings both India and Pakistan together, an undivided nation.
Fans who truly liked the whole presentation are saying it’s a “Historical Fiction” with the creators own interpretation, but having such a delicate issue on the plate, probably it was unnecessary to include one’s “own imagination”.
Bhansali is known for his big scale banners, lavish design and royal representation of women, all of these qualities can be found in Heeramandi .
