Applause Ent’s Fauda Titled ‘Tanaav’; To Debut On SonyLIV

Applause Entertainment’s Indian adaptation of Israeli blockbuster show ‘Fauda’ is one of the most anticipated shows on Indian OTT. After keeping audiences guessing since long, Sameer Nair’s Applause Entertainment has finally shared a huge update on its Fauda adaptation. The series is titled ‘Tanaav‘, a Hindi word that means tension, strain, stress. Interestingly, fast-rising homegrown streamer SonyLIV has grabbed ‘Tanaav’ for streaming on its platform.

It was back in 2019 when we at Binged had reported that Applause Entertainment has bought the official remake rights for Israeli Netflix spy and action thriller ‘Fauda’. It is only now that the prolific content creator has revealed details about the cast and crew of the series titled ‘Tanaav’.

Tanaav will be helmed by stellar Indian director Sudhir Mishra (Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, Serious Men), and co-directed by Sachin Mamta Krishn (Hostages). The extensive cast for the Indian adaptation of Fauda includes actors such as Arbaaz Khan, Rajat Kapoor, Manav Vij, Sumit Kaul, , Shashank Arora, Zarina Wahab, Ekta Kaul, Waluscha D’souza, Danish Hussain, Satyadeep Mishra, Sukhmani Sadana, Sahiba Bali, Amit Gaur, Arslan Goni, Rockey Raina, M.K. Raina, Sheen Dass and Aryaman Seth.

The Israeli original Fauda depicts conflict between the Israeli defence forces and Palestinian terrorists. The Indian version ‘Tanaav’ adapts the narrative as an Indian-spies-vs-Pakistan-terrorists account, set in 2017 Kashmir. Tanaav centers on a Special Covert Ops Unit that grapples with extremists in Kashmir. Portions of the series have been shot in Kashmir. Tanaav Season 1 will have 12 episodes.

Fauda is a gripping Arabic-Hebrew spy drama that was first released on Israeli TV, and later bought by Netflix, where its dubbed version has streamed for three seasons, to overwhelming and universal critical acclaim. The series is fast-paced, riveting and well-performed. If done right, the Indian adaptation has the potential to be a mega hit, starved as we are for gripping action thrillers.

Stay tuned to Binged.com as we bring you further details on ‘Tanaav’, Applause Entertainment and SonyLIV’s Indian adaptation of Fauda.
