Apple TV+ Lands Jennifer Lawrence Starrer ‘Causeway’

Apple TV+ has acquired ‘Causeway’, a new film starring and produced by Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence (‘Don’t Look Up’, ‘Silver Linings Playbook’, ‘American Hustle’). Coming from A24, ‘Causeway’ will be helmed by acclaimed theater director Lila Neugebauer (Broadway’s ‘The Waverly Gallery’, ‘Maid’, ‘The Last Thing He Told Me’).

‘Causeway’ is described by Apple TV+ as an intimate portrait of a soldier struggling to adjust to her life after returning home to New Orleans. The film is scheduled to release globally in theatres first and then on Apple TV+ later this year.

The film has been shot in New Orleans, and in addition to Jennifer Lawerence also stars Emmy and Tony Award nominee Brian Tyree Henry (‘Atlanta’, ‘Bullet Train’, ‘If Beale Street Could Talk’). Ottessa Moshfegh, Luke Goebel and Elizabeth Sander serve as the writers for ‘Causeway’.

Part of the Apple Originals Films slate, ‘Causeway’ is produced by Lawerence alongside Justine Ciarrocchi for Excellent Cadaver while Neugebauer serves as the film’s executive producer. The production companies bankrolling the film are IAC Films, IPR.VC, Excellent Cadaver and A24.

Some of the other upcoming Apple Original Films include the highly anticipated ‘Raymond & Ray’ starring Ewan McGregor and Ethan Hawke; Peter Farrelly’s ‘The Greatest Beer Run Ever’, a new dramedy starring Zac Efron and Russell Crowe and based on the true story; ‘Spirited’, the modern musical rendition of Charles Dickens’ classic holiday story “A Christmas Carol,” starring Ryan Reynolds, Will Ferrell and Octavia Spencer; and Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio’s ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’.
