Apple TV+ has ordered an eight-episode London based crime-thriller series ‘Criminal Record’. Coming from BAFTA Award nominee Paul Rutman, ‘Criminal Record’ deals with issues like race, institutional failure, and the quest to find common ground in a polarized Britain.
As per Apple TV+, ‘Criminal Record’ is a powerful, character-driven thriller set in the heart of contemporary London. An anonymous phone call draws two brilliant detectives into a confrontation over an old murder case – one a young woman in the early stages of her career, the other a well-connected man determined to protect his legacy.
‘Criminal Record’ stars Academy Award winner Peter Capaldi (‘Doctor Who’, ‘The Thick of It’) as Detective Chief Inspector Daniel Hegarty and Critics Choice Award nominee Cush Jumbo (‘The Good Wife’, ‘The Good Fight’, ‘The Beast Must Die’) as Detective Sergeant June Lenker. The two detectives are in a tug of war over a historic murder conviction.
BAFTA Award winner Jim Loach (‘Save Me Too’, ‘Oranges and Sunshine’) serves as the series director. ‘Criminal Record’ is executive produced by Rutman (‘Vera’, ‘Indian Summers’), Elaine Collins (‘Shetland’, ‘Vera’), Capaldi and Jumbo. Tod Productions and STV Studios have produced ‘Criminal Record’ for Apple TV+. The series is currently under production in London and will consist of eight one hour episodes.
