Aquaman 2: Director James Wan Reveals Reason For Release Delay

The latest shake-up in the release dates of upcoming DC Extended Universe films has confused the fans. Both the comic publication and Warner Bros informed about the postponement of future releases like Black Adam, The Flash, DC League of Super-Pets, and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom some time ago. On the other hand, Zachary Levi’s Shazam! Fury of the Gods witnessed a jump forward in its release schedule. The highly-anticipated Aquaman 2 was scheduled to dispatch on December 16 this year. However, this release window has been bestowed to the forthcoming Shazam sequel. Check out what the helmer James Wan has said about the recent postponement of Aquaman 2.

One of the recent tweets from Wan hint that the director is working hard on the film’s visual effects after completing its shoot a few months ago. He also mentioned the film’s new release date, March 17, 2023. This is what he said in his post:

“For a movie that is nearly all visual effects, I’m thankful for the extra time needed to craft this thing right. Working with groundbreaking new technology, I’m blown away by some of the early tests coming in. I’m cautiously optimistic and excited, and can’t wait to share when the time is ready.”

We know that Aquaman 2 will have a lot of underwater sequences. It makes sense why the director is interested in being cautious about the movie’s visual effects. He doesn’t want to mess that part up.

Fans will see performers like Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, Willem Dafoe, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Nicole Kidman, Temuera Morrison, and Dolph Lundgren reprising their previous roles in Aquaman 2. Additionally, we have some new faces in the sequel in the form of Randall Park, Vincent Regan, Jani Zhao, Indya Moore, and Pilou Asbaek. Stay tuned for more updates.
