When will Aranya be released again? Will it be released via any OTT platforms in the country? When will we be able to watch the Hindi version of the film – Haathi Mere Saathi and Tamil version of the film – Kaadan? These are the few of the questions buzzing around for the last few days. Now do we have an answer for these questions related to the Rana Daggubati magnum opus?
We wish we could say ‘Yes’, but unfortunately the information is still in wrap, with no update from the makers on its release till now. Aranya has been under development hell for a long time now. The film was initially scheduled to release on April, 2020 but got belted due to the nationwide lockdown in the country. Then later, the makers planned to release the film in March, 2021 but within a few days of release, the film again got postponed because of Covid surge in India. Now, since March 2021, when the film got halted for a second time, the fans started wondering if the makers will go for an OTT release for the film or not. As the film is multilingual and there is no clear picture of when the Hindi and Tamil versions of the film will release, the fans are anticipating that the film may go for an OTT release with all the languages available. Now, as there are a lot of Indian OTT platforms around who will be eager to grab the deal for Aranya, it will be a battle for OTT worth fighting for. The film got mixed reviews from the critics within the limited span of the release, with some calling it a ”noble attempt” and some calling it a “sub-standard” movie.
Those who do not know about the film, Aranya is a film which follows the deep connection between humans and elephants and it also focuses on the matter of elephant abuse in certain places in India. The film is an extremely significant one for Rana as he has shred almost 15 kgs to prepare himself for this film.
If we talk about the cast of the film, Aranya features Vishnu Vishal, Pulkit Samrat, Shriya Pilgaonkar, and Zoya Hussain, apart from Rana Daggubati. Pulkit Samrat will also be in the Hindi version of the film reprising the role of Vishnu Vishal. The film is directed by Prabhu Solomon, the director of the highly successful tragedy film Mynaa in association with Eros International.
Now, as we are still unclear on when we will finally be able to witness this film on big or small screen, I think only time will tell what decisions do the makers take to make Aranya a successful venture despite having mixed reviews.
