Promoting a show is one thing but sometimes these OTT players come out with some real weird ideas that are mostly a miss in reality. One such wacky marketing drive is what we observed on Twitter today by Voot Select.
Now if this was for some big show with a huge popularity it would still have been understandable but going out like that for a cheesy international reality show like ‘Temptation Island’ seems a bit too much.
It started earlier in the day when Voot Select tagged MTV India and asked them a question related to one of their shows and asked whether they would give in or resist.
They further went on to raise similar queries with some other media Twitter handles like Comedy Central India, Colors Infinity, Colors Cineplex, Voot and Tata Play Binge.
But the one that caught attention the most was the tagging of Netflix India and using the Stranger Things 4 and geeked week hashtags.
While Voot Select received a response from all other official handles it tagged, the netizens and followers of Voot Select didn’t interact much with these posts as it would have otherwise expected.
The bigger, more humiliating backlash was when Netflix India didn’t entertain it as well. And that’s what made this whole campaign look nothing more than a cheap attempt to use trending titles of other streamers and gain traction for their own, something that should have been avoided.
