With only one episode to ago and the penultimate episode on the Marvel web series ‘Loki’ having ended on a cliffhanger, last Wednesday – it is safe to say that there have been “rumblings of speculation” on Twitter regarding the big question, “Who controls the TVA?”. We have had multiple mentions of a very famous Avengers villain (from the comics), which seems to be the most “obvious person” so far. A few others have been pointing at a certain animated character on the show. But knowing Marvel, there is a very good chance that it could be a villain we would not be expecting. In our minds, it can only be another Loki variant. Let us explain.
This entire show has been focused around Loki and the various “aspects” of Loki. Of course, the titular character of a Marvel show should usually be the most important character on the show – but for one as narcissistic as Loki, we wouldn’t be surprised that there is another Loki out there pulling the strings behind the curtains. Another reason is that Loki has been caught the most times by the TVA for breaking off the path from the sacred timeline. So what if, one of the Loki variants, who, similarly to Sylvie, got caught, then escaped, but then he/she/they found the Time Keepers, killed them and still kept the propaganda running? So many possibilities in that “variation” of a timeline alone.
Of course, the aforementioned Avengers villain AKA Kang the Conqueror is the most popular answer and we can see why. He is one of the most powerful beings in the Marvel comic book universe, so introducing him after Thanos’ death makes sense. However, a major villain like that would be much more impressive if they were introduced onscreen in a big movie (since a lot of people do not follow the MCU web series). Of course, that doesn’t rule Kang out, just lessens his chances of coming on the season finale of Marvel’s ‘Loki’.
And the animated character AKA Miss Minutes? It would actually be a clichéd and predictable use of such a character, if she turned out to be controlling the TVA. However, if she is an interactive creature and not an AI, then there might be some surprise there. But, for now, we will have to wait and see. However, we steadfastly believe that we could be looking at another “Ultimate Loki”, who is controlling the TVA.
We will know more when the season finale of ‘Loki’ drops on Disney+ Hotstar’ on Wednesday, 14th July 2021. Check out the other five episodes on the same platform.
