Arnold Schwarzenegger’s ‘Predator’ Sequel: Title, Premise and Important Details Revealed

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s 1987 sci-fi action film ‘Predator’ is still considered to be one of the best action movies ever made. Fans of the film should rejoice as another ‘Predator’ film is already being made, as per a recent report by Collider. Film producers John Davis and John Fox revealed that the new Predator movie would interestingly be titled ‘Skull’.

‘Skull’ would ostensibly be the original film Predator’s origin story about the alien entity’s first arrival on planet Earth. It was also made known that the movie’s filming is on the verge of completion. The film would have a female lead this time. Regarding the new film’s association with the parent ‘Predator’ film, John Davis had stated that:

“It goes back to what made the original Predator movie work. It’s the ingenuity of a human being who won’t give up, who’s able to observe and interpret, basically being able to beat a stronger, more powerful, well-armed force. It actually has more akin to The Revenant than it does any film in the Predator canon. You’ll know what I mean once you see it. You can use your imagination. It is… early.”

‘Skull’ would be directed by the talented Dan Trachtenberg, whose main directorial credits include the critically acclaimed 2016 post-apocalyptic sci-fi flick ’10 Cloverfield Lane’ besides also directing episodes of web series ‘Black Mirror’ and ‘The Boys’.

The original Arnold’s film ‘Predator’ revolved around a rescue mission in a Central American jungle given to an elite commandoes team led by Vietnam War veteran (Arnold). The mission takes an unexpected turn when the team is hunted down by a technologically advanced extraterrestrial warrior called the Predator.

Considering the premise, the predator’s origin story seems to be the perfect recipe to carry forward the legacy of the parent film that was directed by John McTiernan.

The release date of ‘Skull’ is not yet confirmed neither any confirmation about the film’s first look images or trailer. It’s surprising considering that most of the filming schedule is already done.

While the immense success of the original ‘Predator’ film resulted in the making of three sequels but none of those were able to match the class and perfection of the parent film. With Trachtenberg at the helm, we have high hopes for ‘Skull’ to be as close to the original ‘Predator’ movie as possible.
