Arré’s popular original web series Official Chukyagiri is all set to come back in our midst with a Season 3. Season 2 of the show was called Official CEOgiri, and the upcoming Season 3 is called Official Bhutiyagiri.
Official Bhootiyagiri will premiere on MX Player on 14th May. The streaming platform dropped the trailer of the upcoming show recently, which is a bit of all that we have come to expect from the popular franchise.
Dilawar Rana (Sumeet Vyas) is back as the protagonist third time round, though the setting of the narrative has shifted from the corporate boardroom to…a haunted hotel!
The trailer even gives hints as to how Rana goes from managing the reins of his floundering startup, to managing a hotel that is supposedly inhabited by ghosts.
If the response of netizens to the trailer of the show is anything to go by, not too many viewers are happy with the fact that Arré has taken the franchise to a different track altogether. Though fans of the show have been waiting for a new season of Official Chukyagiri since long, they were hoping for the very popular character Spandan Chukya, played by Sunny Kaushal, to make a comeback to the show in its new season.
The web series saw a successful first season, when it was called Official Chukyagiri, and was headlined by Sunny Kaushal and Mithila Palkar as leads. Anand Tiwari also played a vital role in Season 1.
Then came Season 2, in the garb of a new name—Official CEOgiri.
Season 2 featured Sumeet Vyas in the lead role of a CEO who is handicapped by a severe form of SAD – Social Anxiety Disorder, which renders him unable to interact with people.
Sumeet Vyas returns to the show in its new avatar, along with Eisha Chopra and Pranay Manchanda from Season 2. Gopal Dutt, another key actor in the series, is apparently missing in the new season.
The first two seasons were produced by Arré and Amritpal Singh Bindra and Anand Tiwari of Still and Still Moving Pictures. They are all set to reprise their roles as producers for Season 3 as well. Both seasons of the web series had won the audience’s attention and adulation, largely due to their hefty ensemble cast, nuanced humour, sharp dialogues and witty writing.
Let’s hope Season 3 has more to offer along the same lines. The trailer promises a hilarious ride, along with several seriously spooky moments, as Dilawar Rana goes about making the best of what he’s got – a hotel that’s haunted.
