Arrow fame Stephen Amell recently shared his thoughts about James Gunn’s DCU.
During a Whatnot live autograph signing, Amell was asked about James Gunn and Peter Safran’s superhero franchise, DCU, particularly how he feels about the franchise and someone else playing Arrow in future DCU instalments.
The actor’s response towards this question was unexpected. This is what he replied:
“I don’t know, man. I don’t know. Those guys, the DCEU, they need to decide if they think that they’re better than television or if they want to participate. Because I get mixed messages, which to me just signals that, I don’t know. You guys do your own thing. We did our thing. I wish everyone nothing but the best. I want nothing more than amazing movies, but right now, they need us a lot more than we need them.”
Amell even declared himself “the custodian” of the iconic superhero character. However, he accepted that another actor would portray Arrow in future DCU instalments. He believes whoever gets selected to play the character will do a great job.
The Arrowverse concluded with The Flash’s finale on May 24. We also witnessed Stephen Amell in the final season as Green Arrow/Spectre. However, the actor’s recent comments about Gunn’s DCU indicate he is not ready to move on from Arrow. It is understandable, given that he is a DC veteran who became a part of the DC universe after appearing in The CW’s Arrow in 2012.
Although, Amell has expressed his interest in reprising the role of Arrow in James Gunn’s DCU in the past. It will be interesting to see if he appears in the upcoming superhero franchise. Stay tuned for more updates.
