Actor Arshad Warsi, who has been out of action from films for long now, will soon be making his digital debut with a web-series titled Asura. To release on Voot, the series promises an element of mystique and mythology in its backdrop set in Varanasi.
Arshad would be essaying the role of Dhananjay Rajpoot, a forensic expert in this psychological thriller that’s set for a release soon. Despite rumours of the series being a Hollywood ripoff, the actor and the makers insist the story is original and revolves around mythical characters Kali, Kalki and the word of a pandit.
The series, which promises to offer a peek in the world of forensic science, also stars television-cum-film actor Barun Sobti in a key role. He would be seen in a part named Quantico, as a protege of the character Dhanunjay, played by Arshad. They would be hunting together for a serial killer in a series of cat-and-mouse-chases through the episodes. Lots of expectations are riding on this series that is critical towards ensuring the popularity of Voot among the public.
