After a spate of postponements, Arun Vijay starrer rural action-drama movie ‘Yaanai’ was released in theatres on 1st July 2022. And after completing its 50-day theatrical run, the film started streaming on the Zee5 OTT platform from 19th August onwards.
It’s been less than merely five days since the film made its streaming debut and it’s already apparent that Zee5 has made the right decision to bag the post-theatrical streaming rights for ‘Yaanai’. We say so because, as per the latest info revealed by Zee5, the film has crossed a whopping 100 million streaming minutes on the streaming platform.
Helmed by Hari, the Tamil language action-drama movie focuses on the fierce enmity between PRV’s family and the Samuthiran family, which holds the former responsible for the death of one of their family members. Arun Vijay plays the role of Ravi, the youngest son of the PRV family and is also their formidable protector.
The film was the first collaboration between director Hari and actor Arun Vijay and the former’s comeback after a hiatus of four years. The movie also features Priya Bhavani Shankar, Samuthirakani, Yogi Babu, Radhika Sarathkumar, and Ramachandra Raju, amongst others in important roles.
‘Yaanai’ has reportedly grossed about Rs.40 crores at the box office since its release and eventually went on to become one of the highest grossing Tamil movies of 2022. Moreover, the movie has garnered positive feedback from audiences and critics, particularly for its direction, performances, and the way the action scenes were executed. On BookMyShow, ‘Yaanai’ has received 83% positive ratings from users.
