As She Turns 75, Cher Announces Her Biopic Is In Works At Universal!

Cher is without doubt one of music’s iconic living legends and today the legendary singer is celebrating her birthday with an announcement that has left her fans in awe and excited. The singer took to her social media and announced it herself that a biopic of hers is under works at Universal.

Yes, Cher is getting her very own biopic and it comes from some of the best filmmakers in the industry. Universal Studios is onboard at the moment for creating and planning the Cher biopic, which right now is untitled. The producers from “Mamma Mia!”, Judy Craymer and Gary Goeztman are the ones leading the project with Eric Roth on the scripts. Eric Roth has earlier written scripts for “Forrest Gump”, “A Star is Born” and “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” among others.

Along with Mamma Mia! producers, Cher will also join the team as the producer and overlook the project. This is the second time she will be collaborating with them, the first time was when they got together for “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again”, in 2018. Also, it will be her second time working with Eric Roth, as they earlier worked together for 1987 film, “Suspect”. Roth is currently working with Martin Scorsese on his upcoming film “Killers of the Flower Moon”.

Cher back in 2018 announced that she will be releasing her very own memoir and soon a biopic after that, but things didn’t go as planned. As Cher said, the plans for her memoir publication went out as in 2020, the pandemic took over. So even though we aren’t getting a memoir, we are definitely getting a biopic based on the icon.

Cher, ever since her debut has always stayed iconic and even till this date, six decades later, the 75 year old singer has maintained herself like she was back then. Her stand out sense of style, her iconic disco, pop, rock and roll themed songs have always been a treat and all of them will finally come to light when the film shows the life of the singer.

Cher has been a dominating force, both in the field of singing as well as films. Out of countless accolades, she has received a Tony Award, an Emmy in 2003, a Grammy in 2000 and even an Oscar in 1988 for her role in the movie “Moonstruck”.
