Popular Kollywood director Atlee Kumar‘s Bollywood debut starring none other than Shah Rukh Khan and Nayanthara goes on floors today! The cast has arrived in Pune for the first schedule, expected to kick off soon. The director has chosen the reigning superstars from both industries to lead his debut project- ‘King Khan’ and ‘Lady Superstar’ (as they are popularly referred to as)! The film has been creating much buzz the past week for its cast developments. A new star is seen joining the team every other day, the latest entrant being South actress Priyamani, who’s now popular in Bollywood too, post ‘The Family Man’ series.
Actress Priyamani reportedly plays a key role in the narrative of the film and is apparently already on set, raring to go. Besides the sultry actress, the cast of the yet-untitled film has already seen big names like Sanya Malhotra, South actor Kathir and Sunil Grover join the team. Nothing much is known about their roles or the script, however, news of SRK playing a double role in the movie has been doing the rounds for a while now.
This project is said to be a major Pan-Indian film in the making and will see some of the biggest names in Bollywood and South Indian cinema coming together. It is likely that some more names will be revealed in the coming weeks, since sources say there are more surprises in store, as far as casting is concerned. The film will reportedly be shot in 6-7 months, on a very high budget and filmed across various locations.
Incidentally, SRK and Priyamani have collaborated earlier on ‘Chennai Express’, though just for an item song. Director Atlee has previously worked with Nayanthara in 2013, on his debut film, ‘Raja Rani’, also starring Arya, as well as on the 2019 Vijay starrer ‘Bigil’, where he also worked with actor Kathir. The Atlee directorial is being produced by Shah Rukh Khan’s banner, Red Chillies Entertainment. Besides this film, SRK has almost wrapped up ‘Pathan’ and also has a film with Rajkumar Hirani in the pipeline. As for Nayanthara, who was last seen in ‘Netrikann’, she has ‘Annaatthe’ with Superstar Rajinikanth slated for a Diwali release, Telegu film ‘Aaradugula Bullet’ and beau Vignesh Shivan’s ‘Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kaadhal’ alongside Vijay Sethupathi and Samantha in her kitty.
