Two big Hindi films are clashing, and fans are anticipating a good fight between them. In one corner of the ring is Ajay Devgan and Tabu’s Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, which is definitely the underdog, with almost no marketing whatsoever.
In the other corner is Ulajh, featuring Janhvi Kapoor and Gulshan Devaiah. Though the concepts of the films are quite different, one thing brings them together: disappointing pre-release ticket sales.
By yesterday morning, both films sold less than 1,000 tickets each, which is definitely disappointing. Though the graph saw a rise lately, it is still underwhelming.
As of yesterday, Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha sold 9.44k tickets, which is low but surprisingly higher than what Ulajh is reporting. Despite a positive response on social media, the film reports a low 5.77k ticket sales on BookMyShow.
It is quite disappointing, as Ulajh engaged in a lot of promotional activities. It seems that the “nepotism” tag will haunt Janhvi for some time now. On the other hand, Tabu and Ajay Devgan are an established pair, and it just shows that fans expect a lot from them.
Though the film’s trailer was underwhelming, with some people even calling it a soap opera, it does have a solid music album. But is that enough to give it a boost? Friday’s run will definitely be a determining factor for both films, and word of mouth will play a critical role.
