Austin Butler has become quite a breakthrough star after fetching a role in Quentin Tarantino’s “Once upon a time in Hollywood”. He also acted in movies like Aliens in the Attic, The Intruders, etc., and series like “The Shannara Chronicles”, the MTV series, and “Masters of the Air”, the Apple series.
He will also be seen in the 2022 drama/musical movie “Elvis”, starring Tom Hanks alongside. Reportedly he is in negotiations for playing Feyd-Rautha , the key antagonist in the sequel of “Dune”, the 2021 sci-fi/ adventure movie.
Rautha, in the novel, is the sadistic younger nephew and heir of Baron Vladimir Harkonnen, and is rendered as merciless, deceitful, and cunning, just like his uncle. He has a key role in Baron’s desires to rule over Arrakis for the insane family, favoring him more in comparison to his brutal elder brother Glossu Rabban. Butler’s role in this movie has been previously played by Sting in the 1984 David Lynch film.
Apart from Austin Butler, MCU star Florence Pugh has also been eyed for a pivotal role in “Dune: Part II”. The rest of the ensemble cast includes Timothee Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya, Stellan Skarsgard, Dave Bautista, Javier Bardem, and Josh Brolin.
Frank Herbert adaptation of this novel did exceedingly well in the box office, sending fans the green light for its sequel, a few weeks later. It also bagged 9 Academy Awards Nominations, including one for the best picture.
As per the reports of Variety, the film is slated to bow on October 20, 2023, with the production to commence from this summer.
