Avatar: The Last Airbender Tops Netflix Charts, But…

Looking through Netflix’s top 10 chart, “Avatar” conquers the charts with ease, even the week prior to this, it was just the same. But there are definitely some inconsistencies if we notice minutely. “Avatar: The Last Airbender” is undoubtedly buzzy, but that isn’t really reflected in the numbers.

Let me clarify the matter.

Netflix released their top 10 charts, and “Avatar” is clearly dominating for two weeks. From Feb. 26 to March 3, the series managed to grab a total viewership of 19.9 million, and in comparison, the previous week was more fruitful for the series, gaining 21.2 million.

Now, on a superficial level, this might look alright as a dip in viewership in consecutive weeks is really common. But keeping this in mind, during the week of February 19th-25th, the series was only available for four days.

To simplify the matter, it managed to gain a viewership of 21.2 million in four days, but as it had a run of a full week, “Avatar” saw a dip of 6% in viewership, which is definitely odd for a series of such big caliber.

Comparing it with Netflix’s previous venture, “One Piece” also showed a similar trend. Though it debuted with 18.5 million viewership, the number eventually increased to 19.3 million the week after.

“Avatar” also didn’t face any advertisement issues as well. Personally, I must say it was advertised in a better way. So, there is no prominent reason behind the slight dip; it might just be the strong fanbase, which is less than that of “One Piece.”
