After the globally acclaimed blockbuster Marvel movie ‘Avengers: Endgame’, the next two Avengers movies namely ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ are slated to release in theatres on 2nd May 2025, and 1st May 2026, respectively. Out of the two Avengers movies, the first one ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty’ will be helmed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who had directed the hit Marvel film ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’.
As per the latest update, ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty’ will kick-off its filming schedule in the Spring of 2024, that is, sometime in the months of March, April, or May 2024. The filming update for such a big and important Marvel venture has come at a time when the titular antagonist of the said film played by Jonathan Majors has recently been in the news for wrong reasons.
The ‘Creed III’ actor Jonathan Majors is currently facing domestic assault charges. He was arrested earlier this year in March on charges of strangulation, assault, and harassment. Things got worse when more alleged abuse victims recently came forward following his arrest. Majors is supposed to appear in court on 8th May.
With so many things happening around the personal life of Jonathan Majors, it remains to be seen whether or not the actor will come out clean from all these allegations. But in case that does not happen, then it can potentially affect his acting career in a big way. It could also result in the makers of ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty’ thinking about potentially replacing the actor with a new one for the role of Kang the Conqueror. As of now, the 33-year-old actor is still attached to star in the high-profile MCU role.
Some time back, a rather similar thing happened with Warner Bros. and DC Studios when the lead actor Ezra Miller of their highly anticipated superhero movie ‘The Flash’ got embroiled in several controversies. The studio apparently went into a damage control mode and things later got under control. Whether Marvel will go ahead with casting Jonathan Majors in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ might depend on how the case unfolds in the coming months. Until then, let’s wait and watch and meanwhile, stay tuned to Binged.
