Having grabbed six wins at the Emmys 2024, ‘Baby Reindeer’ has paved the way for Richard Gadd to extend his partnership with Netflix. Gadd has now signed a multi-year first look deal with Netflix to create more scripted content for the global giant.
The announcement was made by Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos during the Royal Television Society (RTS) London Convention today. This new partnership comes despite Netflix having to face a $170 million law suit that was filed against it by Fiona Harvey, the real-life inspiration for the character of Martha, for defamation and violation of privacy.
Gadd’s ‘Baby Reindeer’ won great critical acclaim and was a global phenomenon. The dark comedy seven episode series was on Netflix’s Top 10 TV list (English) for eight weeks straight and was also in the Top 10 TV list in 92 countries.
‘Baby Reindeer’ won six awards at the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards 2024 in the Limited or Anthology Series category including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series, Outstanding Lead Actor for Gadd, Outstanding Supporting Actress for Jessica Gunning, plus awards for writing, casting, and picture editing).
