Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar starrer Badhaai Do is all set for it’s OTT release on 11th March 2022. Besides being critically well received, Badhaai Do was also commercially successful. This Hindi language comedy-drama film is written by Suman Adhikary and Akshat Ghildial. Bankrolled by Junglee Pictures, the film serves as a spiritual sequel to the 2018 film Badhaai Ho.
Centred around the concept of “lavender marriage”, the film portrays both Rao and Pednekar as non-heterosexual characters who get married to ward off their overbearing relatives. The writing tackles Sumi, a physical education teacher and Policeman Shardul’s (played by Pednekar and Rao) socially-repressed lives as members of the homosexual and lesbian community and how they live under the same roof while pursuing love in their own ways.
Seema Pahwa, Sheeba Chaddha, Nitesh Panday, Gulshan Devaiah, who plays Rao’s boyfriend and Chum Darang, who plays Pednekar’s girlfriend form the main cast of this drama. The film had a theatrical release on February 11th, 2022. Well, if you missed this little gem of a film that takes a right step in the right direction with regard to the LGBTQ community, you can as well stream it on Netflix India from March 11th.
