Dev is all set to release his next big budget historical feature and fans are excited as hell. The first poster of ‘Bagha Jatin’ has been released now and it looks amazing. The film will have a puja release and it will hit the theaters on the 20th of October. It will be released in Hindi as well.
The film is directed by Arun Roy, a filmmaker known for movies based on the independence struggle and the Bengali reaction to colonialism. He has made very successful films like ‘Egaaro’, ‘Binoy Badal Dinesh’, ‘Hiralal’ and more.
Deepak Adhikari or Dev is choosing his scripts very carefully nowadays and he is focusing more on historical and period dramas. He will play the iconic Byomkesh Bakshy in ‘Durgo Rahasya’, and he has acted in several other period dramas like ‘Golondaj’ etc. A debutant actress will be playing the female lead against Dev in Bagha Jatin. There are several other actors like Rohan Bhattacharya and more.
The first look of the film was released long ago and it featured Dev carrying a kid in his hands as if to save him from something from the jungle behind. The character Dev plays, is of Jatindranath Mukherjee, popularly known as ‘Bagha Jatin’, one of the most popular freedom fighters from undivided Bengal. Jatindranath was a terror for British police officers and was a leader of ‘Jugantar’ party. There are many legends regarding the life of Jatindranath. It is said that he once fought against a tiger with his bare hands and won and that is how he got his name ‘Bagha’. It is good that we are having a serious biopic of the rebel. Fans are excited for the movie and there is buzz all over the internet.
