The official pre-teaser for ‘Bagha Jatin’ is out now. On the occasion of the 76th Independence Day, a Hindi version of the pre-teaser is released too. The video is not as good as it was expected, but it has gathered decent views and fans are excited for the film. ‘Bagha Jatin’ is directed by Arun Roy, a filmmaker known for movies based on the independence struggle and the Bengali reaction to colonialism. He has made very successful films like ‘Egaaro’, ‘Binoy Badal Dinesh’, ‘Hiralal’ and more.
The character Dev plays, is of Jatindranath Mukherjee, popularly known as ‘Bagha Jatin’, one of the most popular freedom fighters from undivided Bengal. Jatindranath was a terror for British police officers and was a leader of ‘Jugantar’ party. There are many legends regarding the life of Jatindranath. It is said that he once fought against a tiger with his bare hands and won and that is how he got his name ‘Bagha’. It is good that we are having a serious biopic of the rebel.
Dev looks quite convincing as the legendary freedom fighter, but at times, he looks as if overacting. Arun Roy is a promising filmmaker and he will let the movie go wrong at any cost. The music in the movie is pretty good, and the visuals too are decent. What might be a problem for the movie is the acting performances. Jatin is really a complex character to play and it will be difficult for Dev to pull off such a character. The movie will be releasing on the 19th of October this year.
