Ever since Ana de Armas appeared as the bubbly yet highly skilled CIA agent Paloma in the James Bond movie No Time to Die (2021), fans have been clamouring to see her in a full-fledged action role. Thanks to Lionsgate, we now have her in the John Wick spinoff, Ballerina. The studio has dropped the first trailer for the upcoming film.
Officially titled “From the World of John Wick: Ballerina”, the spinoff serves as a bridge between the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum (2019) and John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023).
Lionsgate decided to delay the movie’s release, which was originally scheduled for June 2024, to allow Chad Stahelski to enhance the film’s action sequences. He worked with director Len Wiseman to improve the quality of the action scenes.
The new release date for the film is June 6, 2025.
The John Wick franchise is undoubtedly Lionsgate’s crown jewel. It has starred Keanu Reeves as the titular protagonist in four movies. Reeves also makes a cameo appearance in the forthcoming spinoff.
Led by Ana de Armas, Ballerina’s cast has other talents such as Anjelica Huston, Gabriel Byrne, Lance Reddick, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Norman Reedus, Ian McShane, and Keanu Reeves. Enjoy the trailer below!
