Dark Horse Entertainment has extended its creative partnership with Netflix. The new multi year deal will let Dark Horse continue to give Netflix a first look at its IP for both film and TV. The announcement comes post the success of their recent collaboration on the third season of ‘The Umbrella Academy’, which in its first four weeks reached the Netflix Global Top 10 in TV in 91 countries.
Multiple new projects have been announced under this new deal between Dark Horse and Netflix and these include:
‘Bang!’ : Based on the comic series by Matt Kindt and Wilfredo Torres, ‘Bang!’ stars Idris Elba (‘The Harder They Fall’, ‘Concrete Cowboy’, ‘Luther’) and is directed by David Leitch (‘Bullet Train’, ‘Atomic Blonde’, ‘Deadpool 2’). The official logline for the film reads, “When a terrorist cult sets out to start the apocalypse with a series of novels meant to brainwash their readers, the world’s most celebrated spy is sent to track down and kill the author responsible.”
The feature film adaptation of the stylish spy-thriller is written by Kindt (‘Ninjak vs the Valiant Universe’) and Zak Olkewicz (‘Bullet Train’, ‘Fear Street Part 2: 1978’). ‘Bang!’ is produced by Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg for Dark Horse, David Leitch and Kelly McCormick for 87 North, and Idris Elba.
‘Mind MGMT’ : This new series adaptation is based on the another comic book series by Matt Kindt. The story follows a young woman who stumbles onto the top-secret Mind Management program. Her ensuing journey involves weaponized psychics, hypnotic advertising, talking dolphins, and seemingly immortal pursuers, as she attempts to find the man who was MIND MGMT’s greatest success – and its most devastating failure. But in a world where people can rewrite reality itself, can she trust anything she sees?
The series is executive produced by Curtis Gwinn (‘Stranger Things’), and Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg for Dark Horse.
‘Revenge Inc.’ : Executive produced and showrun by Matthew Arnold ‘Revenge Inc.’ is a drama series focused on a secret, underground company that specializes in revenge. Other executive producers for the project include Mike Richardson, Keith Goldberg, and Chris Tongue.
‘Lady Killer’ : This Blake Lively starrer is an action thriller film about a 1950s housewife leading a secret life as a highly-trained killer for hire. Produced by Blake Lively, the film is based on the comic series by Joelle Jones and Jamie S. Rich.
Netflix and Datk Horse have earlier worked together on ventures like Mads Mikkelsen starrer Netflix film ‘Polar’, the Netflix animated series ‘Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles’, returning later this year with Season 2, and the animated film ‘Chickenhare and the Hamster of Darkness’.
