When it comes to the casting of the much-talked-about upcoming film, ‘Barbie’, Warner Bros and Mattel are in no mood to slow down. After making headlines almost every other day for its casting picks, this evening, the film has snared yet more exciting names for unspecified roles. As per reports in the media, Kingsley Ben-Adir (One Night In Miami, The OA), Rhea Perlman (Cheers, Matilda), Ncuti Gatwa (Sex Education), Emerald Fennell (Oscar-winning writer-director of Promising Young Woman), Sharon Rooney, Scott Evans, Ana Cruz Kayne, Connor Swindells, Ritu Arya and Jamie Demetriou have joined the cast of ‘Barbie’.
After all the casting picks, the film boasts a cast that is jaw-dropping by any standard. Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling play the lead couple of Barbie and Ken. America Ferrara, Kate McKinnon, Simu Liu, Ariana Greenblatt, Emma Mackey, Alexandra Shipp, Issa Rae, Michael Cera, Hari Nef and Will Ferrell are the other well-known names in the star-studded cast of Barbie.
If the cast of Barbie is mouth-watering, its crew is even more delectable. Oscar-winners Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach are writing the script of Barbie. Greta is directing the film, given which, it is obvious the film will be vastly different from the stereotypical pop culture film everyone expects Barbie to be. Lastly, Margot Robbie is producing the film under her production house, LuckyChap Entertainment, along with Tom Ackerley.
Barbie joins other recent and upcoming Hollywood films that made news for their humongous cast – ‘Don’t Look Up’ and the upcoming ‘Oppenheimer’, for instance.
