The movie is a tragic story of expectations, desire and loneliness. Banalata’s loneliness devours her and leaves her devastated.
Like many of Rituparno’s movies, ‘Bariwali’ too has a Bollywood actor in the lead role. It stars Kirron Kher and has actors like Chiranjeet, Rupa Ganguly and Sudipta Chakraborty in major roles.
Bariwali won two national awards and gained much acclaim at the time of its release. The movie has its cinematography handled by Vivek Shah and its music composed by Debojyoti Mishra.
