Look at Basil Joseph’s recent filmography and you would know his films are must watch and worth every penny. Whether it was Nunakkuzhi, Vaazha – Biopic of a Billion Boys, Ajayante Randam Moshanam aka ARM, Sookshmadarshini, Pravinkoodu Shappu, or Ponman all of them have been critical and commercial successes.
So was his latest release ‘Maranamass’, a Malayalam black comedy drama penned and helmed by Sivaprasad in his directorial debut. The film released on the occasion of Vishu and follows the story of a serial killer who is terrorising a city. But unexpectedly, the killer, the target, a girl, her lover, and others end up in a night bus, and dramatic events unfold, leading to the unique climax with many surprises.
In addition to Basil Joseph, ‘Maranamass’ also stars Rajesh Madhavan, Siju Sunny, Babu Antony, Suresh Krishna, Anishma Anilkumar, and Pooja Mohanraj among others.
‘Maranamass’ was praised for a gripping storyline with a great first half while the second half had its flaws. The stellar performances make it fun watch that’s packed with laughs but still grips you from the first frame itself. Though there have been some limitations noted about the script but overall it has been touted to be a fun breezy watch. Now that makes it so much more apt for the digital medium.
‘Maranamass’ is coming to SonyLIV on 15th May, 2025, i.e. five weeks after its theatrical release instead of the usual four week standard. Will you watch it?
