Last year, a movie called “The Kerala Story” starring Adah Sharma became a sensation due to the controversies surrounding its topic. Despite criticisms of misrepresented facts and a weak screenplay, the movie grossed over 240 crores, becoming a blockbuster. Now, the makers of the same movie are back with another film, this time focusing on the Naxalites in Chhattisgarh. Adah Sharma also stars in this movie, reprising her role.
The film was released in theaters in March, but as they say, the same magic doesn’t work every time. The movie suffered from technical flaws and lacked creativity, resulting in poor performance at the box office, earning only around 4 crores.
The movie addresses the issues faced by people in Naxalite-prone areas of Chhattisgarh, primarily Bastar. Led by Adah Sharma, whose expressionless acting fails to leave an impact, the movie fails to resonate emotionally with the audience as intended. Everything form it’s dialogues to action and even the direction everything falls flat and proves to be mindless propaganda movie only to spark debates amidst the election times.
Despite being heavily criticized, “Bastar: The Naxal Story” is set to premiere on May 17th exclusively on Zee5. Would you still consider giving your precious time to this movie?
