You may remember that Warner Bros was developing a Batman animated series at HBO. But things didn’t turn out as planned. It was brutally scrapped just like many other DC projects and it forced the makers to start pitching out the idea to other streamers. The usual partner of Warner Bros, Amazon Prime Video has grabbed the rights to the film.
This series is produced by Bruce Timm, J.J. Abrams, and “The Batman” director Matt Reeves. Interestingly, Amazon Prime Video has ordered two seasons of the animated series.
If you have watched Batman: The Animated Series then you might know that it was developed by Bruce Timm. The series went on to win an Emmy award and this new series will mark his return to the Batman animation.
Interestingly, Sony is also developing multiple animated Spider-Man series and its related characters. So we will have Prime Video hosting animated series from both Marvel and DC.
Unfortunately, not many details about Batman: Caped Crusader as of now. Because it is in a very nascent stage of development. But it is a very promising project that may benefit Prime Video in the long run, as the consumption market of animation is getting bigger anyways.
We will keep you posted about whatever details follow the show.
